How was Directional Non-Force Technique® developed?

Directional Non-Force Technique® (D.N.F.T.®) is a very specific manner of diagnosis and an adjusting method that was originally developed by Dr. Richard VanRumpt, a well-known pioneer of chiropractic and a doctor of Science in Physiotherapy. While a student at the National College of Chiropractic, VanRumpt discovered that conducting deep lumbar palpation (simply examining the body and touching different areas) actually provided relief for many symptoms without heavy manipulation of the spine or neck.
Throughout his experimentation with this new method, he realized that this less forceful approach could, in fact, correct subluxations (partial dislocations).

Compared to traditional chiropractic methods, the Directional Non-Force Technique® is light-force in nature. What can be achieved in a short amount of time, most often 6 – 8 treatments, traditional chiropractic cannot achieve in 70 or 80 visits. Utilizing a very gentle thumb-thrust and a natural reflex of the body which we refer to as a ‘leg-check’, I can accurately diagnose and treat almost any issue, discomfort, pain, or problem of the musculoskeletal system.
Due to the accuracy of this leg-check, all neural pathways from the spine that branch out to every system of the body can be analyzed. Once identified, subluxations can be alleviated restoring balance and regulation to the system. Your body can function optimally because the blockage has been removed.
